The City of Leavenworth is undertaking a major update of the Comprehensive Plan and development regulations.
What is the Comprehensive Plan?
The Comprehensive Plan is one of the community’s most important tools in planning for the future. The plan includes a community vision, goals, policies, and action items that guide day-to-day decisions by local elected officials and City staff. The plan is organized into the following eight elements plus technical appendices.
Why are we updating the Comprehensive Plan?
The City must update the Comprehensive Plan to comply with a State law known as the Growth Management Act (GMA). This is a major update, which occurs every ten years. The City may conduct minor updates on an annual basis. The current plan was adopted in 2021.
This update is an excellent opportunity to ensure the plan continues to represent the community’s vision for the future. For more information see Additional Resources below.
How can I be part of the process?
Your participation is key to the planning process. The City’s Public Participation Program describes how the City will engage the community throughout this process. Public participation started with a trio of collaborative Community Visioning workshops in 2024 and continues through spring 2026.
To contribute to the Comprehensive Plan update, please attend a Community Engagement event or provide written comments. Sign up for email updates using the City’s online contact form to receive news and updates on the process.
