The City of Leavenworth’s Housing Advisory Committee is comprised of volunteers appointed by the Mayor and are dedicated to creating housing opportunities for middle housing (80-120% Area Median Income) which is a great need in our community. Many of the people who work in Leavenworth cannot afford to live here, making it imperative to find solutions.

City of Leavenworth Code of Ethics for Elected and Appointed Officials

On August 8, 2023 the City Council of the City of Leavenworth adopted a Code of Ethics for all elected and appointed officials.

Recently, a Request for Ideas (RFI) was issued by the City’s Housing Advisory Committee (HAC). The HAC’s RFI sought innovative, practical proposals to develop and enhance workforce and affordable housing for our essential local employees (healthcare, education, service, construction, public safety, and more).

Builders, developers, architects, landowners, business leaders, and community advocates were invited to submit ideas.

Recently Asked Questions (RAQs)

In response to the Housing Advisory Committee’s Request for Ideas, the committee received three (3) proposals. One proposal received included a “BIG” idea, which conceptually proposed transforming existing city property (i.e., the Leavenworth Golf Course) into more housing options, open public green space, and community recreation amenities.

At this current point in time, the City has not made any decisions or plans on selling the Golf Course. The City has a contract with the Leavenworth Golf Club through 2033, and we intend to honor that agreement.

Yes. The City owns other parcels of property that may be considered to be undeveloped land.

The submittal received was in response to a Request for Ideas from the Housing Advisory Committee. At this time, the high-level concept remains as proposed, a big idea. No formal discussions or decisions by the City Council have occurred.

This is a myth. If you’d like to hear the real story, you’re invited to join the Mayor at one of his weekly chats on Monday mornings or evenings. Check out the city’s online calendar for upcoming dates: City Meetings Calendar – City of Leavenworth

Fecal waste created by residential, commercial, and hospitality developments within city limits is conveyed and treated by the City’s Water Resource Recovery infrastructure and facility before returning to the river.

The $500,000 mentioned in the RFI has been specifically set aside and budgeted to fund potential housing projects and/or initiatives in the city. We are currently working on a city-wide ADA Transition Plan and will utilize other funding/budget sources for the study and implementation of these transportation improvements.
