A contractor for the city is scheduled to begin asbestos abatement work on Monday, February 9, at the former Osborn Elementary School Facility. The work is anticipated to take about 45 days.
Here is what you can expect:
- Site Preparation: Starting this week, you’ll notice plywood partitions being installed around the utility corridor entrances. These will be clearly marked with “Caution – Asbestos Abatement” stickers for safety and compliance.
- Abatement Areas: The majority of the asbestos work is contained to the utility corridors beneath the building. In the final phase of the project, the contractor will be removing carpet with asbestos mastic.
- Staging & Access: The contractor will be utilizing the covered area for trucks and equipment, and you may see extra traffic at the facility over the next 45 days.
This abatement effort is a vital step toward redeveloping and reimagining what this facility can become for our community. We can’t wait for what comes next!
