In April 2025, the City entered into a contract with Psomas Inc. to prepare the Transportation Safety Action Plan, with the contract running through the end of 2026. This project is funded through a Federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant, with a total project cost of $158,700.
The Federal grant totals $126,960, with the City required to pay a 20 percent local match, which equals $31,740.
Development of the Safety Action Plan is a critical step in identifying safety priorities, strategies, and projects aimed at reducing serious injuries and fatalities on City roadways. The draft Safety Action Plan was presented to the City Council on February 10, 2026. Following Council review and feedback, the finalized plan was brought forward on March 10, 2026, for Council adoption. Once adopted, the City will be positioned to pursue future safety-related grant funding for the implementation of identified projects and improvements.
