The Recycling Center is entering a new chapter. Our current partner, Waste Loop, is no longer able to manage the center’s two-day operations. This transition gives the City a unique opportunity to pause, evaluate, and plan how we handle glass, cardboard, single-stream, and yard waste recycling in Leavenworth.
To build a program that truly works for city residents, we want to be transparent about how the center currently functions:
- The Recycle Center’s two-day-a-week operations have been provided to city residents and the community at large, at no direct charge.
- Recycle Center services are currently funded by Commercial Garbage Enterprise funds. At this time, there is no dedicated residential recycling fund to sustain or expand these operations.
As we explore new operation strategies and sustainable funding sources, your voice is an important piece in how we proceed. We want to know what recycling center services you value most, what your household needs are, and how you envision a successful recycling program in our city.
As we consider all the options, your feedback is vital. Please take 7 minutes to share your thoughts in the survey at the link below. Your feedback will directly inform the City’s next steps regarding the Recycle Center and the services it provides to our city residents.
