Pipkin Construction is the contractor for the emergency repair project on US 2 Tumwater Canyon (mileposts 90-99).
Mild weather has allowed Pipkin to expedite the repair work and the estimated time to reopen has been updated form mid-March to mid-February.
There is still no confirmed date to reopen, and work is based on conditions, including weather, materials, and equipment. US 2 Tumwater Canyon has been closed since December 11, 2025.
Additional slope and road repairs are necessary on Chumstick Highway once US 2 Tumwater Canyon has reopened. Repair plans and schedules for Chumstick Highway are in development.
