It’s Utility Tuesday! Today, we are highlighting where your residential utility dollars go. Based on the City’s 2025 budget for residential utilities (including water, wastewater, and stormwater), here’s a breakdown:

$0.66 | Infrastructure Restoration & Investment (The heavy lifting, including and not limited to new pipes, watermain replacements, and system upgrades or expansions)

$0.17 | System Operations & Maintenance (O&M) (Combines daily operations and maintenance with personnel and administration costs. This covers everything from labor, fuel, chemicals, and technology required to keep systems safe and operating smoothly)

$0.13 | Safety & Compliance Reserves (These funds are in case of unplanned emergency repairs and to meet regulatory requirements)

$0.04 | Past Project Financing (This is essentially the “mortgage” on major infrastructure projects already built and in use today)

The Bottom Line: Nearly 80% of your utility dollar is dedicated to the restoration, revitalization, and investment of city infrastructure. We are committed to ensuring reliable and quality utility services to our community.

We can’t wait to show you our Water Leak Map. Stay tuned for your next Utility Tuesday update!
